On Saturday, I was invited for a volunteers' get together party for anyone who had taken part in the Christmas Project for the homeless shelter as a chance to get together and see how everyone was - so I obviously jumped at the chance to meet up with people I'd met over the Christmas period.
However, I did have little dilemma, the biggest question on a girls mind when attending events WHAT ON EARTH WAS I GOING TO WEAR?! It was nearly 3 weeks after my Christmas gorging and to be quite frank with you, I've eaten so much I've started to turn into a pig in a blanket!
But teamed with some Christmas money off my family, I decided to treat myself to an outfit. I haven't been 'out out' in ages so I thought why the heck not?!
My first purchase was a pair of black skinnys, this is 100% a staple in any girls wardrobe however I only had a ripped version, but it's winter - who wants cold knees? When my parcel arrived, I just couldn't wait to try them on! I thought I'd have to heave myself into them and wriggle around to get them to fit nicely but these just slotted on like a glove and I'm in LOVE! It's been ages since I've had a pair of decent well fitting jeans, but ladies and gents I've found 'the one.'
My next purchase was a wine coloured Bardot top. In recent weeks I've found that wine/burgundy is my colour, it's so flattering on me (if I do say so myself) so as soon as I saw this top I knew I had to have it. At first I was a little worried it would be too clingy on my stomach or make my neck look thick but when I put it on, it did neither which was impressive.
I decided rather than going dressy, I was doing to dress down slightly so I teamed it with wine coloured converse (conveniently already pre-bought about a year ago) and my 2-in-1 reversible bomber jacket which I have barely taken off since buying it last month.
Enjoy these pictures of me posing in said outfit, the white dots are rain, because my hometown is Manchester and it's always spitting.
Now I hold my hands up, I am no make up artist but I do like to experiment slightly. Normally I do a brown eyelid and focus the colour on my lips but I decided to switch it up and do a wine/burgundy coloured eyelid and a light brown/nude lip.
The outfit and make up were a hit, I got a lot of compliments (mainly because these people had seen me in jogging bottoms and hair scraped up when I was on the early shift!)
So I've been having a little think .. and since I want to start reading a book a month, I was wondering how you would all like to start a book club with me? I could either livestream at the end of the month and we can talk about the book I've chosen that month, or I can just do a blog post about it and we can talk about it in the comments?
Just incase you did want to join in with me, I've already chosen a book 'The Girl you left behind' by JoJo Moyes.
This is the same author as the controversial hit 'Me before You' which personally I loved. That was one of the reasons I was quick to jump on the bandwagon of ordering this book, but also due to a recommendation from a friend's mum who said it was absolutely worth the read.
What do you think? Will you be joining me on my reading journey?
So if you've seen today's video you will know that over Christmas, I helped the homeless. I volunteered for 3 days (24th, 26th and 28th December) to help feed, entertain and promote general well being to all of the service users. I had an absolute ball and if I could do it paid full time, I definitely would, it was so rewarding.
I'm not preaching to be like LOOK WHAT I DID EVERYONE but more like, please do what you can to help people in need. So below I have put together a list of things you can do to help people in need in your area.
some charities do evening food services and some at weekend, if you can spare a few hours whenever you have it, they are always so grateful for anything
you can either donate money to various charities so they can spend the money on what they need or donate items. items they generally need are as follows
*pop up tents
*miniature toiletries (shampoo, conditioner, body wash, toothbrushes, toothpaste)
- suspend a coffee
if you regularly drink coffee/tea/hot choc etc then you can ask if your local coffeeshop/cafe offer the chance to suspend a coffee meaning you pay for two but only take one leaving one for someone who is in need but don't have the funds. if the shop you use the most doesn't offer this then you can even suggest they look into providing this service as it's no extra cost to them and they'll be happy to be doing their bit
talk to a homeless person you see, they aren't really doing much are they? take time to sit and talk and see how they are etc. i can guarantee they'll just be happy to not have someone look past them. they will really appreciate it! other than that, give them any of the donations directly.
can you think of anything i could have forgotten? this is currently an issue that's close to me and if i could singlehandedly stop homelessness i'd give it a good go!
I hope the New Year is treating you well. I've come down with the flu which isn't exactly how I wanted to start the year but I'm sure it will go soon.
To get the New Year off to a start I've set my resolutions in hope, the year goes smoothly.
- wear my FitBit everyday
so late last year I treated myself to a FitBit blaze which is amazing however I kept taking it off and leaving it off, which kind of defeats the object of having one. so I decided to make this one of the main resolutions and so far, so good!
- do at least 2 hours of exercise per week
so by this, I mean two exercise classes as I've had a membership to my local gym for goodness knows how long and I rarely use it so I have vowed to use it more and at least get my money's worth!
- start this blog up
obviously I wanted to kickstart this blog again, I have so much I want to do and say but not interesting enough to put into a video so I'm going to document more here than I do in my videos.
- read at least one book a month
i've been slacking with my reading, I have TWO full bookshelves and I hardly read last year. it just gives me time to zone out and get away for a bit.
I hope you are all well. I apparently made this blog in 2014 and it didn't go very well however I feel that the vlogging thing isn't going to well for me either. I just don't have alot of passion for it, I enjoy it but then when it comes to filming and finding the right spot and inspiration I procrastinate so much.
So here I am, the beginning of 2017 trying again... the reason I'm not willing to give up is because being a social media influencer is something I want to do so bad. I have so much love and goodness to give I want to influence people to make great decisions.
On this blog I want to talk about many things
- make up
- daily going's on
- quizzes and questions
- & so much more!
I hope you will continue to follow me on this journey, thank you.
